Randall Abrahams
Idols South Africa’s ‘favourite’ judge, Randall was behind the scenes in radio for 14 years, starting at Good Hope FM in Cape Town and peaking as General Manager, Commercial Radio at the SABC – where he headed up the division that encompassed 5fm, Metro FM and Good Hope FM.
He also led Yfm from its outset, and where, after just six months on air, the station had a listenership of 650 000, growing to over 2 million after 3 years.
As a dedicated industry player, Randall has held the office of Chairperson of the National Association of Broadcasters and was also a board member at the Advertising Standards Authority from 4 years.
He left the broadcasting industry in 2006 but kept his hand in by consulting for a radio station in Kenya. At the tail-end of 2011, Randall took the reigns at the South African Music Awards. Then, in 2012, he took up the position as MD of Universal Music South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
